The New York Times Notable Books
The New York Times released its list of 100 Notable Books of The Year. We probably won't be getting to the bottom of who picked which books for this one ... once is enough for that. The fiction list includes 10 or so NBCC finalists. Nonfiction includes Jonathan Franzen's The Discomfort Zone, former NBCC finalist Liz Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love, John McPhee's Uncommon Carriers, Bill Buford's Heat, Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma, Elizabeth Kolbert's Field Notes from a Catastrophe, and Alison Bechdel's Fun Home ... and many others.
Speaking of comics, apparently there's a new frontier in graphic novels: Girls, and lots of them.
