Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" chosen by Oprah
And I thought she'd gone dark with Rohinton Mistry's "A Fine Balance," but Oprah has looked even further into the void: she has picked NBCC finalist Cormac McCarthy's brutal and poetic post-apocalyptic novel "The Road" for her latest book club pick. McCarthy is apparently going to do his first television interview ever. As a warm up for that soon to be surely much taped and analyzed bit of television, here's an old interview with him from 1992, when commercial success began to first come to the reclusive author at age 58, when he published "All the Pretty Horses."*
