I Was Told There'd be Cake
Speaking of creative book publicity, author Sloane Crosley (known to many NBCC members as uber-publicist at Vintage/Random House) has created a very unique website for her first book. It features, among other things, a book trailer starring a pair of fingers that wear pants and use the toilet; also several fascinating dioramas that represent the stories in her book -- a collection of essays repeatedly being compared to David Sedaris, Dorothy Parker, Sarah Vowell. and Mary Tyler Moore. File that one under books-I'm-looking-forward-to-reading ...As an aside, the guy who did Crosley's book trailer is doing some pretty interesting work in that department.
