A Quick Roundup

Our very own Lizzie Skurnick has put out a call for folks to "find the best word or phrase to describe when a reviewer commences with a personal anecdote, generally of dubious relevance, that just-so-happenstancedly manages to contain certain tangential and ill-concealed references to the reviewer’s own achievements/successes. (See: "At the end of our freshman year at Harvard, my roommates and I…")

NYU put on a great media panel on Publishing and the Election with David Rosenthal, Ana Marie Cox, Jacob Weisberg and Jonathan Alter.

Amazingly, podcast novels are enjoying quite a bit of success.

And since we're totally fascinated by creative publicity, we're very happy to see book trailers moving to a whole new level.

Nothing surprising - or particularly new - about podcast novels. Episodes of my own YA fantasy Mortal Ghost have been downloaded more than 15,000 times. And what I really have enjoyed is that it's read by a teen - a UK theatre student who's keen on the project - rather than by me.
